World Smile Day / Pass the Smile Tag
Pass the Smile Tag
A chasing game where the 'smiler' passes on a smile with a gentle tag, and tagged players must grin and freeze until a friend frees them with a high five.
How to run it
- Mark out a playing area and choose two or three 'smilers'.
- When a smiler tags someone, that player freezes with the biggest grin they can.
- Frozen players are freed when a friend gives them a high five.
- Swap smilers every few minutes so everyone gets a turn.
You will need
- cones
- bibs for smilers
Make it easier or harderYounger children can play in a smaller area at walking pace; older children can add a rule that frozen players must make a silly face to be freed.
SafetyUse gentle tags only on shoulders or backs and keep the area clear of obstacles.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 3Children enjoy energetic play and cooperate to free one another, building connection and wellbeing.
