Around the World Day / Hello in Many Languages
Hello in Many Languages
Children learn to say hello in the languages spoken by families at the service, creating a welcome chart that celebrates everyone.
How to run it
- Ask families beforehand which languages they speak at home.
- Make a chart with each greeting and a simple pronunciation guide.
- Practise each greeting together, inviting children to teach their own language.
- Include a greeting in the local First Nations language where local guidance supports it.
- Display the chart at the entrance to welcome everyone.
You will need
- large chart paper
- markers
Make it easier or harderFocus on a few greetings for younger children; older children can add 'thank you' and write the words.
