Treasure Hunters Day / Nature Treasure Hunt
Nature Treasure Hunt
Children use a picture or word list to search the yard for natural treasures like a feather, a smooth stone or something yellow.
How to run it
- Make a checklist of natural items to find, with pictures for younger children.
- Give each small group a list and a bag or egg carton.
- Children search the yard and tick off items as they find them.
- Gather to share favourite finds and return living things to where they were found.
You will need
- treasure hunt lists
- pencils
- paper bags or egg cartons
Make it easier or harderUse picture lists for younger children; add descriptive clues like 'something rough' for older ones.
SafetyRemind children not to touch insects, spiders, fungi or animal droppings, and wash hands afterwards.
