Great Race Day / Grounds Map Navigation
Grounds Map Navigation
Children use a simple map of the service grounds to locate hidden checkpoints, building map-reading and directional skills.
How to run it
- Draw or print a simple map of the grounds with marked checkpoints.
- Hide a letter or symbol card at each checkpoint.
- Give pairs a map and a clipboard to record what they find.
- Children orient their map and navigate to each checkpoint.
- Use the collected letters to solve a final word.
You will need
- printed maps
- clipboards
- pencils
- checkpoint cards
Make it easier or harderUse picture landmarks for younger children; older children can draw their own map for others to follow.
SafetyKeep checkpoints within sight of educators and agree on boundaries first.
