Italian Festa Day / Un, Due, Tre, Stella!
Un, Due, Tre, Stella!
Children creep towards the caller and freeze when they turn around in this Italian playground game, chanting the count in Italian as they play.
How to run it
- Teach the chant: un, due, tre, stella, meaning one, two, three, star.
- Choose a caller to stand facing a wall or fence with the group lined up far behind.
- While the caller chants with their back turned, everyone moves forward.
- When the caller turns on stella, anyone caught moving goes back to the start.
- The first child to tap the caller becomes the next caller.
You will need
- open space
- a wall, fence or tree to face
Make it easier or harderYounger children can play with an educator as caller; older children can add a rule that the caller names a pose to freeze in.
SafetyUse a clear, flat space and remind children to walk rather than sprint near the caller.
