Winter Wonderland / Snowflake Symmetry
Snowflake Symmetry
Children fold and cut paper snowflakes, exploring lines of symmetry and how repeating patterns form.
How to run it
- Talk about symmetry and show photos of real snowflakes with six points.
- Fold a paper circle or square into a triangle several times.
- Cut small shapes along the edges.
- Unfold to reveal the snowflake and find its lines of symmetry.
You will need
- paper
- scissors
- pencils
Make it easier or harderPre-fold paper for younger children; older children can try six-pointed folds.
SafetyUse child-safe scissors.
