Robot Day / Scribble Bots
Scribble Bots
Older children build a wobbly drawing machine from a cup, a small motor and markers, then watch it scribble patterns across paper.
How to run it
- Tape three markers around a plastic cup as legs.
- Attach a small motor with an off-centre weight to the top.
- Connect the motor to a battery pack with tape and switch it on.
- Place the bot on large paper and watch it draw.
- Adjust the marker angles to change the patterns.
You will need
- plastic cups
- small hobby motors
- AA battery packs
- markers
- masking tape
- large paper
- cork or eraser for weight
Make it easier or harderPre-build motors for younger children, or let older children design a bot that draws circles.
SafetySupervise batteries and wires, and store small parts and spare batteries away from younger children.
