World Hello Day / Pass the Hello Circle
Pass the Hello Circle
Children pass a hello around the circle in changing styles, such as whispered, sleepy, excited or in another language, ending in a calm group greeting.
How to run it
- Sit in a circle and start by saying hello to the person on your left.
- Each child passes the hello on in the same style until it returns.
- Change the style each round: whisper, robot voice, opera voice, sleepy or excited.
- Add rounds in languages spoken by children in the group.
- Finish with everyone waving hello at the same time, then a slow breath together.
Make it easier or harderYounger children can use simple voices with an educator model; older children can invent new styles for the circle.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 3, Outcome 5Children build a sense of belonging and practise using their voices expressively.
