World Hello Day / Hello Mix and Freeze
Hello Mix and Freeze
Children move to music, then greet the nearest person in the way the educator calls out, from a wave and a bow to an elbow bump or a hello in another language.
How to run it
- Write a list of greeting styles: wave, bow, thumbs up, elbow bump and a hello in a language from the group.
- Play music while children move around the room.
- Stop the music and call a greeting for children to share with the nearest person.
- Ask children who speak other languages to teach the group their hello for a round.
- Finish with a whole group wave.
You will need

Make it easier or harderYounger children can use just waves and thumbs up; older children can call the greetings themselves.
SafetyOffer non-touch greetings for every round so children can choose what they are comfortable with.
