Dinosaur Day / Frozen Dinosaur Eggs
Frozen Dinosaur Eggs
Children search for ice eggs with toy dinosaurs frozen inside, then work out how to hatch them with warm water and salt.
How to run it
- The day before, place a small toy dinosaur in a balloon, fill with water, tie and freeze.
- Peel off the balloons and hide the ice eggs outdoors.
- Let children find the eggs and bring them to trays.
- Offer pipettes of warm water, salt and spoons so children can test the best way to melt them.
You will need
- balloons
- water
- small toy dinosaurs
- freezer
- trays
- pipettes or squeeze bottles
- salt
Make it easier or harderUse bigger eggs for younger children; older children can time and compare melting methods.
SafetyCollect all balloon pieces straight away as they are a choking hazard, and use warm, not hot, water.
