Hanukkah / Eight Nights of Kindness Chain
Eight Nights of Kindness Chain
Children plan eight small acts of kindness, one for each night of Hanukkah, and record them on a paper chain that grows as each kindness is done.
How to run it
- Explain that Hanukkah lasts eight nights and that many families share gifts, time together and acts of giving during the festival.
- Brainstorm small kindnesses children can do at OSHC, such as helping pack up, inviting someone to play or making a card.
- Have each child write or draw eight ideas on paper strips in blue, white and gold.
- Each day, children add a strip to the group chain when they complete one of their kindnesses.
You will need
- blue, white and gold paper strips
- pencils and markers
- glue sticks or stapler
Make it easier or harderYounger children can choose from picture cards of kind acts; older children can plan kindnesses for the wider school community.
