Culture Celebration Day / Cultural Dress Day
Cultural Dress Day
Children are invited to wear clothing that reflects their family's culture and share what it means to them, if they wish.
How to run it
- Invite families ahead of time, making clear it is optional and any outfit is welcome.
- Gather in a circle and invite children to share their clothing and its story, if they want to.
- Ask families or community members who are willing to share more about their traditions.
- Celebrate everyone's backgrounds with a group photo or display.
You will need
- children's own clothing
- world map
Make it easier or harderYounger children can share one thing about their outfit; older children can prepare a short talk.
SafetyChildren wear their own family's clothing only; avoid costumes that dress up as other cultures.
