Gross and Messy Day / Baked Bean Gumboot Relay
Baked Bean Gumboot Relay
Teams race to carry baked beans in gumboots and fill a container, a gloriously messy relay full of laughs.
How to run it
- Set up team lanes with a tub of baked beans at one end and an empty container at the other.
- Children scoop beans into a spare gumboot (carried in hand, not worn) and race to tip them out.
- Each team member takes a turn until time is up.
- Measure which team moved the most beans.
You will need
- spare gumboots
- tins of baked beans
- tubs
- scoops
- cones
- hose for clean-up
Make it easier or harderUse shorter lanes for younger children; older children can carry the boots without using hands on the rim.
SafetyUse a grassed area to avoid slipping, have children wear old clothes and wash hands; do not eat the beans.
