Backwards Day / Backwards Races
Backwards Races
Children run, walk or crab-walk races in reverse, turning familiar races upside down for a silly, active challenge.
How to run it
- Mark a short, clear course with cones.
- Demonstrate walking backwards safely and looking over a shoulder.
- Run heats of backwards walking, then crab walking.
- Add a backwards relay.
- Celebrate the silliest and steadiest styles.
You will need
- cones
Make it easier or harderWalk rather than run for younger children; older children can do backwards obstacle courses.
SafetyUse a short, flat, obstacle-free course on grass and walk rather than run backwards.
