Culture Celebration Day / World Foods Tasting
World Foods Tasting
Children taste simple foods from different cultures, ideally ones shared by local families, and talk about where they come from.
How to run it
- Choose a few simple foods, inviting families to suggest or share dishes.
- Set up a tasting table with a map showing each food's country of origin.
- Children try small tastes and describe flavours and textures.
- Discuss favourites and the stories behind the foods.
You will need
- small tasting portions of foods
- plates
- world map
- labels
Make it easier or harderYounger children try two or three foods; older children research and present a dish.
SafetyCheck allergies and dietary needs for every child, label ingredients, and never pressure children to taste.
