World Water Day / Water Walk Challenge

Water Walk Challenge

Teams carry water across the yard in jugs and buckets to fill a big container, then talk about how many people around the world walk a long way to collect water every day.

How to run it

  1. Set a large empty container at one end of the yard and buckets of water at the other.
  2. Give teams a mix of carrying vessels such as jugs, small buckets, cups and sponges.
  3. Teams take turns carrying water across, trying not to spill.
  4. Measure how much each team delivered and compare it with how much water a family uses each day.
  5. Discuss how lucky it is to have water from a tap and why it's worth saving.

  • large empty containers
  • buckets of water
  • jugs, cups, small buckets and sponges
