Wheels Day / Toy Car Ramp Science
Toy Car Ramp Science
Children test how ramp height and surface change how far toy cars travel, measuring and recording their results.
How to run it
- Set up ramps from boards and books at different heights.
- Children predict which ramp will send the car furthest.
- Release the car (not pushed) and measure the distance travelled.
- Try different surfaces such as carpet, foil or sandpaper, and record results in a table.
You will need
- toy cars
- boards or stiff card
- books
- measuring tape
- recording sheets
Make it easier or harderYounger children can compare 'further' and 'shorter'; older children can graph results.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 4Fair testing and measuring builds scientific and mathematical thinking.
