Pamper and Zen Day / Supervised Candle Pouring
Supervised Candle Pouring
Older children pour melted soy wax into jars to make simple candles. An educator handles all heating and children work at a calm, supervised station.
How to run it
- Educator melts soy wax in a heat-controlled wax melter or double boiler away from children.
- Children fix wicks in jars with a wick sticker and holder.
- Educator pours or guides children pouring slightly cooled wax with a jug.
- Leave candles to set fully before trimming wicks.
You will need
- soy wax
- pre-tabbed wicks
- glass jars
- wick holders
- pouring jug
- thermometer
Make it easier or harderYounger children can decorate jars instead; older children can add colour and test pouring temperatures.
SafetyHot wax burns: only educators melt wax, cool it to about 60°C before children pour, keep a lid nearby and send candles home unlit.
