Rocket and Plane Day / Stomp Rockets
Stomp Rockets
Children stomp on an empty bottle to send a paper rocket flying through a tube, then experiment with rocket shapes to go further.
How to run it
- Attach a length of tube or pipe to an empty plastic bottle with strong tape.
- Roll paper rockets around a tube that fits snugly and tape a cone on top.
- Slide a rocket onto the launch tube and point it away from people.
- Take turns stomping on the bottle and measure how far each rocket goes.
You will need
- empty plastic bottles
- flexible tube or PVC pipe
- paper
- strong tape
- measuring tape
Make it easier or harderPre-make rockets for younger children, or have older children test fin and nose shapes.
SafetyLaunch away from people and only one rocket at a time.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 4, Outcome 3Children investigate force and motion through active, hands-on experimenting.
