Earth Hour / Spotlight Freeze
Spotlight Freeze
With the room dimmed, children dance and move freely until the educator's torch beam lands on them, when they must freeze in an animal pose or sit out a round.
How to run it
- Clear a large space, close the blinds and dim the lights.
- Play music or a drumbeat while children move around.
- When the music stops, the educator sweeps a torch beam across the room.
- Anyone caught moving in the beam calls out a night animal and joins the educator as a spotter.
- Swap the torch to a child for the next round.
You will need
- torch
- music player or drum
Make it easier or harderYounger children can freeze anywhere without sitting out; older children can freeze in a set animal pose called by the spotter.
SafetyKeep the room dim rather than fully dark, clear trip hazards and never shine torches into eyes.
