All About Australia Day / Regions of Australia Passport
Regions of Australia Passport
Children travel around stations for different Australian regions, from tropical rainforest and reef to desert, high country and cities, collecting a stamp at each.
How to run it
- Set up five or six stations, each a region: tropical north, desert and outback, coast and reef, high country and snow, Tasmanian wilderness, cities.
- At each, put a picture, a fact card and a quick task (spot the animal, feel a texture, solve a clue).
- Include whose Country each region is, using a map of Indigenous Australia.
- Give each child a folded passport to stamp or sticker at each station.
- Finish by voting on which region the group would most like to visit.
You will need
- printed region pictures and fact cards
- card for passports
- stamps or stickers
- map of Australia
Make it easier or harderYounger children can do picture tasks only; older children can research and run a station themselves.
