Weather Watchers / Rain Cloud in a Jar
Rain Cloud in a Jar
Children drip coloured water onto a shaving foam cloud floating on water in a jar and watch it 'rain' through.
How to run it
- Fill jars about three-quarters with water.
- Spray a layer of shaving foam on top to make a cloud.
- Children use droppers to add coloured water to the foam.
- Watch as the colour drips through like rain, and talk about how clouds hold water.
You will need
- clear jars or cups
- shaving foam
- food colouring
- water
- droppers
Make it easier or harderYounger children can watch and describe; older children can test how much colour it takes to 'rain'.
SafetyKeep shaving foam away from eyes and mouths, and use plastic jars with younger children.
