Messy Play Day / Oobleck Exploration
Oobleck Exploration
Children mix cornflour and water into a strange goo that feels solid when squeezed but runs like liquid when relaxed.
How to run it
- Mix about two cups of cornflour with one cup of water in a tub.
- Add colouring if you like.
- Let children squeeze, poke and let it drip.
- Ask why it acts like both a solid and a liquid.
You will need
- cornflour
- water
- large tubs
- food colouring (optional)
Make it easier or harderKeep it sensory for younger children; older children can test quick versus slow movements and record results.
SafetyDo not pour leftover oobleck down sinks; scrape into the bin.
