World Smile Day / Mirror Faces Drama Game
Mirror Faces Drama Game
Partners take turns mirroring each other's facial expressions, from tiny smiles to huge surprise, exploring how faces show feelings.
How to run it
- Pair children up facing each other, with one as the leader and one as the mirror.
- The leader slowly changes facial expressions, such as a small smile, a big grin, surprised or thinking.
- The mirror copies every change exactly, then partners swap roles.
- Talk about how a smile can change how we feel and how others feel around us.
Make it easier or harderYounger children can copy only smiles of different sizes; older children can add hand movements and guess the feeling being shown.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 3, Outcome 5Children recognise and name emotions, and practise reading non-verbal cues to support communication.
