World Teachers' Day / Kids Teach a Skill Workshop
Kids Teach a Skill Workshop
Children swap roles with educators and run short mini-lessons on something they can do, from paper planes to a card trick, while others sign up as students.
How to run it
- A few days before, invite children to choose one skill they could teach in ten minutes.
- Help each teacher plan three simple steps and gather what they need.
- Set up lesson spots around the room with a sign-up sheet at each one.
- Run two or three lesson rounds, with educators joining in as willing students.
- Finish with a quick share of what everyone learned and a thank-you to each teacher.
You will need
- sign-up sheets
- pens
- A4 card for lesson signs
- materials for each child's chosen skill
Make it easier or harderYounger children can teach in pairs with an educator nearby; older children can write a short lesson plan and gather feedback from their students.
SafetyCheck each planned skill is safe for the group and has no sharp tools, heat or small parts for younger learners.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 1, Outcome 5Children build confidence in their own abilities and practise clear communication by explaining and demonstrating a skill to others.
