Robot Day / Human Robot Coding
Human Robot Coding
One child is the robot and the others give step-by-step arrow commands to guide them across a grid, learning the basics of coding without screens.
How to run it
- Mark out a grid with tape or chalk.
- Place a start square and a target object.
- Have the coders lay arrow cards in order, then read them out.
- The robot follows each command exactly, and the team fixes any bugs.
You will need
- masking tape or chalk
- arrow cards
- small target object
Make it easier or harderUse only forward and turn cards for younger children, or add loops and obstacles for older children.
SafetyKeep the grid clear of trip hazards.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 4, Outcome 5Children develop logical thinking and clear communication through sequencing.
