Science Day / Fizzy Canister Rockets
Fizzy Canister Rockets
Older children add a fizzing tablet and water to small snap-lid canisters and watch the gas build up and pop the lids skyward.
How to run it
- Put on safety goggles and mark a launch zone outdoors.
- Add a little water and a quarter of a fizzing tablet to a canister.
- Snap on the lid quickly, turn it upside down and step well back.
- Wait for the pop and talk about gas pressure.
You will need
- small snap-lid plastic canisters
- effervescent tablets
- water
- safety goggles
Make it easier or harderRun as an educator demo for younger children, or let older children test water amounts.
SafetyWear goggles, never lean over a canister, and store tablets away from children.
