Easter / Egg Guessing Jar
Egg Guessing Jar
Children estimate how many small eggs are in a jar, then count them together to see whose guess was closest.
How to run it
- Fill a clear jar with plastic or foil-wrapped eggs and count them privately.
- Have each child write their estimate and name on a slip.
- Count the eggs together in groups of ten.
- Reveal the closest guess and talk about estimation strategies.
You will need
- clear jar
- small plastic or wrapped eggs
- paper slips
- pencils
Make it easier or harderUse fewer, larger eggs for younger children; older children can estimate using a sample layer.
SafetyIf using chocolate eggs, check for allergies before sharing.
