World Environment Day / Eco Promise Leaf Tree
Eco Promise Leaf Tree
Each child traces their hand as a leaf, writes or draws one realistic thing they will do for the environment, and adds it to a shared branch tree for the room.
How to run it
- Stand a large fallen branch in a bucket of sand or draw a bare tree on butcher's paper.
- Brainstorm small actions children can really do, such as turning off taps, walking to school or picking up litter.
- Have children trace and cut out a hand-shaped leaf from green scrap paper.
- Ask each child to write or draw their own promise on the leaf.
- Hang or glue the leaves on the tree and revisit the promises later in the term.
You will need
- fallen branch and bucket of sand or butcher's paper
- green scrap paper
- scissors
- markers
- string or glue
Make it easier or harderYounger children can draw their action; older children can write a promise plus how they will track it.
