French Day / Crêpe Spreading Station
Crêpe Spreading Station
Children help whisk a simple crêpe batter, watch the educator cook thin crêpes, then fill and fold their own with sweet or savoury toppings.
How to run it
- Have children measure and whisk flour, eggs, milk and a pinch of salt into a smooth batter.
- Explain that crêpes are thin pancakes eaten all over France, often from street stalls.
- Cook the crêpes yourself in an electric frying pan while children watch from a safe distance.
- Let children spread or sprinkle toppings, then fold their crêpe into quarters.
- Practise saying merci and bon appétit before eating together.
You will need
- plain flour
- eggs
- milk

Make it easier or harderYounger children can stir and choose toppings; older children can measure ingredients and try flipping with close supervision.
SafetyCheck allergy records first: contains egg, gluten and dairy (offer gluten-free flour and plant milk if needed); only educators handle the hot pan, and keep spreads nut-free.
