World Art Day / Blind Contour Portraits
Blind Contour Portraits
Partners draw each other's faces without looking at the paper, producing wonderfully wobbly portraits and plenty of laughs.
How to run it
- Sit children in pairs facing each other with paper and a marker.
- Explain they must look only at their partner's face and never at the paper.
- Draw slowly for one to two minutes without lifting the pen.
- Reveal the portraits, then try a second round where they can peek once.
You will need
- paper
- markers or pencils
- timer
Make it easier or harderYounger children can draw a simple object instead of a face; older children can try drawing with their non-dominant hand.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 3, Outcome 4Children take creative risks in a playful, low-pressure way that builds confidence and observation skills.
