Refugee Week / Belonging Tree
Belonging Tree
Children add handprint leaves to a big paper tree, each showing something that makes them feel at home, from a favourite meal to a special person or place.
How to run it
- Draw or paint a large bare tree trunk and branches on butcher's paper.
- Ask children what helps them feel they belong, such as people, food, music, pets, places or traditions.
- Children trace their hand on coloured paper, cut it out and write or draw their answer on it.
- Glue the hands on as leaves and talk about how different leaves make one strong tree.
