Greek Day / Yiayia's Biscuit Twists
Yiayia's Biscuit Twists
Children roll and twist soft dough into koulourakia, Greek butter biscuits, ideally alongside a yiayia, pappou or family member who bakes them at home.
How to run it
- Invite a family member or community member who bakes koulourakia to share their recipe and help, if possible.
- Make a simple dough with butter, sugar, egg, flour, baking powder and a little orange zest or vanilla.
- Give each child a walnut-sized ball to roll into a thin snake, fold in half and twist.
- Brush with beaten egg and bake on lined trays at 180°C for about 15 to 18 minutes.
- Cool, then share with a chat about family baking traditions.
