Book Week / Theme Response Display Wall
Theme Response Display Wall
Each child creates a piece of art or writing in response to this year's Book Week theme, and together the pieces become one big collaborative display.
How to run it
- Share this year's theme and talk about a few different ways it could be interpreted.
- Give each child a same-sized square of card to fill with a drawing, collage, poem or sentence that shows their idea.
- Have children write a one-line caption explaining their response on the back or underneath.
- Arrange the squares into a patchwork wall with the theme as a banner across the top.
You will need
- card squares
- coloured pencils and markers
- collage scraps
- glue sticks
- display board or wall space
- Blu Tack or staples
Make it easier or harderYounger children draw a picture with an educator scribing their caption; older children combine words and images in a mixed-media piece.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 1, Outcome 2Each child contributes their own voice to a shared display, building identity and belonging to the group.
