Earth Hour / Switch-Off Detectives
Switch-Off Detectives
Children patrol the service with clipboards to find everything that uses electricity, record what is left on, and design reminder signs to stick near switches.
How to run it
- Talk about where electricity comes from and why using less helps the planet.
- Give pairs a clipboard and a room each to search.
- Have them list every device, light and appliance they find, noting which are on but not in use.
- Ask each pair to design a 'switch me off' sign for one spot.
- Stick the signs up with permission and check back next week.
You will need
- clipboards
- paper
- pencils
- card
- markers
- removable tape
