World Book Day / Pre-Loved Book Swap
Pre-Loved Book Swap
Children bring a book they have finished with and swap it for one that is new to them, giving books a second life and sharing favourite reads.
How to run it
- Send a note home inviting families to send in a pre-loved book in good condition, and keep spare donated books for anyone who can't bring one.
- Give each child a swap token for each book they bring or are given.
- Set the books out by type on tables like a market stall.
- Let children browse and swap their tokens for a new book, writing a quick recommendation note to leave in the book they gave.
You will need
- donated books
- paper tokens
- tables
- sticky notes
Make it easier or harderYounger children choose a book with an educator; older children run the swap stall and keep count of the tokens.
