Bug Day / Pom-Pom Spiders
Pom-Pom Spiders
Children craft fuzzy spiders by attaching pipe-cleaner legs and googly eyes to pom-poms, practising counting to eight and fine motor skills.
How to run it
- Give each child a large pom-pom and four pipe cleaners.
- Twist the pipe cleaners around the middle of the pom-pom to make eight legs.
- Bend the legs into shape and glue on eyes.
- Add a length of string so the spider can dangle.
You will need
- large pom-poms
- pipe cleaners
- googly eyes
- PVA glue
- string
Make it easier or harderPre-cut pipe cleaners for younger children; older children can research and model a real spider species.
SafetySupervise small items such as googly eyes and pom-poms, which are choking hazards for young children.
