Art Through the Ages / Paint Like a Famous Artist
Paint Like a Famous Artist
Older children look at the styles of well-known artists, such as dots, swirls or bold shapes, and create their own artwork in that style.
How to run it
- Show prints of artworks with distinct styles.
- Talk about what makes each style recognisable.
- Children choose one style to try.
- Paint their own subject in that style.
- Hold a gallery walk and guess which style each artwork uses.
You will need
- paint
- brushes
- paper or canvas
- printed artwork examples
Make it easier or harderOffer a simpler style with clear shapes for less confident painters; others can combine two styles.
