Teamwork Day / Human Knot
Human Knot
Children hold hands across a circle to create a tangle, then work together to untangle themselves without letting go.
How to run it
- Gather groups of six to eight children in a tight circle.
- Each child reaches across and holds two different hands.
- Without letting go, the group steps, twists and climbs to untangle into a circle.
- Debrief on how the group talked and made decisions.
Make it easier or harderUse smaller groups for an easier knot; ban talking for a harder version with older children.
SafetyRemind children to move gently and loosen grips if anyone feels uncomfortable; let children opt out of hand-holding.
My Time Our Place · Outcome 3, Outcome 5Solving a physical puzzle together develops communication, patience and cooperation.
