International Dot Day / Dot Sticker Pointillism Pictures
Dot Sticker Pointillism Pictures
Children create pictures made only from coloured dot stickers or marker dots, seeing how many small dots build up into a bigger image.
How to run it
- Show a close-up photo of a printed picture or screen so children can see it is made of tiny dots.
- Give children a pencil outline or let them sketch a simple shape, such as a fish, flower or rocket.
- Fill the outline using only dot stickers or marker dots, mixing colours closely together.
- Stand back from the finished pictures to see how the dots blend from a distance.
You will need
- coloured dot stickers
- fine and thick markers
- paper
- pencils
- simple outline sheets (optional)
Make it easier or harderYounger children can use large stickers on big shapes; older children can try shading by changing how close together the dots are.
