National Simultaneous Storytime / Character Hot Seat
Character Hot Seat
Children take turns sitting in the 'hot seat' as a character from this year's Storytime book and answer the group's questions in character.
How to run it
- Re-read this year's book and list the main characters.
- Place a special chair at the front as the hot seat.
- Invite a volunteer to choose a character and sit in the seat while others ask questions about how they felt and why they acted as they did.
- Swap volunteers and characters every few minutes.
You will need
- this year's Storytime book
- a chair
Make it easier or harderYounger children answer with an educator in the seat beside them; older children play minor characters or objects from the story.
