International Dot Day / Chalk Dot Playground Trail
Chalk Dot Playground Trail
Children decorate the playground with giant chalk dots, linking them into a winding trail with challenges such as hop, spin or balance at each dot.
How to run it
- Give small groups chalk and a section of playground or path.
- Have each group draw a few giant, decorated dots, then link them with lines into one long trail.
- Ask groups to write a movement challenge inside each dot, such as 'hop five times' or 'balance on one leg'.
- Walk, hop and spin the whole trail together, then photograph it from above if you can.
You will need
- chalk
- camera or device (optional)
Make it easier or harderYounger children can draw dots and simple movement pictures; older children can design a timed trail with scoring.
SafetyCheck the space is clear of traffic and use sun protection outdoors.
