Mental Health Month / Calm-Down Glitter Bottles
Calm-Down Glitter Bottles
Children make sealed glitter bottles to shake and watch settle, giving them a simple tool for calming big feelings.
How to run it
- Give each child a clear plastic bottle.
- Fill most of the way with warm water and add clear glue and glitter.
- Top up with water, leaving a gap, and test the swirl.
- Educators glue the lid shut.
- Practise slow breathing while watching the glitter settle.
You will need
- clear plastic bottles
- warm water
- clear glue or glitter glue
- fine glitter
- strong glue for lids
Make it easier or harderUse larger glitter and help with pouring for younger children; older children can test how much glue slows the glitter.
SafetyUse plastic bottles not glass, and seal lids so contents cannot be swallowed.
