International Literacy Day / Build a Little Book Library
Build a Little Book Library
Children design, build and decorate a book-sharing box for the service, then stock it with donated books so everyone can take one and leave one.
How to run it
- Talk about how book-sharing boxes let communities share books for free.
- Use a sturdy cardboard box or wooden crate and help children plan its design, including a sign and simple rules.
- Have children paint, decorate and label the library, adding shelves from folded card if needed.
- Fill it with donated books and agree on how the take-one, leave-one system will work.
You will need

- card
- masking tape
