World Book Day / Book Recommendation Café
Book Recommendation Café
Children run a pretend café where the menu lists books instead of meals, and 'customers' order a recommendation served with a simple snack.
How to run it
- Have children write short recommendation cards for books they love, sorted under menu headings like 'Funny', 'Spooky' or 'Adventure'.
- Set up café tables with the menus, a counter and a basket of the recommended books.
- Take turns being waiters, who take orders and bring the chosen book with a cup of water and a piece of fruit.
- Customers read for a while, then leave a 'review' on a sticky note for the next diner.
You will need
- card for menus and recommendation cards
- markers
- tables and chairs
- books
- cups
- fruit
